Exploring Masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael.



Renaissance art is a historical art period that occurs between the 14th and 15th centuries during the transition from Middle Ages to the modern age. This movement has an interest in reason and classical Greek values, mainly highlighting humanism. This was due to the change of the revolution in several areas, at that time people were interested in any type of knowledge expansion, at the same time that economic prosperity, technological advances, the commerce growth, and among other changes were being involved.

Italy was the capital of this movement during the quattrocento (XV century) Classical construction and architecture were trending. One of the greatest features of Renaissance art was the introduction of oil painting on canvas. Oil paint allows produce more light effects, shadows, more homogeneous mixtures to recreate precise colors, velvet shadows, more three-dimensional effects than with the classic fresco and temple, etc.



Representations of the human body were included again after the Great Dark Ages, the contours and details in facial expressions improved thanks to oil painting and the natural appearance of things seemed to be all the rage. The values ​​of symmetry, proportion, harmony, balance and perspective were very relevant, and the oil allowed them to be corrected and achieve those expectations of perfection.

Leonardo Da Vinci / Features


1.     He used the Sfumato technique, which consists of creating a blur between the edges and colors to hide the lines and make them imperceptible. An example of this is the art portrait of the "La Gioconda" and the softness of this painting.




2.     He used the Chiaroscuro technique, this consists of creating volume and dimension through the contrast of light and dark that represent light and shadow, an example of this is the work of art "the virgin of the rocks"




3.     He had meticulous observation, reflected every detail perfectly and had a great ability to capture the emotions of his characters thanks to his use of linear perspective and production of realism. An example of this is "The Last Supper."



Raphael Features


1.     He was a painter who is recognized for the symmetry of his works and the balance between contrasts taking into account the focal and central points of each setting. An example of this is the art portrait of "school of Athens"



2.     He had a high capacity to produce perfect, thin and symmetrical outlines, which gave elegance to his works. Examples of this are the artworks of "The Virgin of the Goldfinch" and "Betrothal of the Virgin"



3.     Characteristics of his painting are the strong exposure of bright colors, vibrant tones and hues that generate vitality to his works. An example is his painting of "Madonna Sixtina"
